The new 2009 season is set to start in July and will last most of the month. We aim to complete a full detailed survey of the fortress using a combination of a Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS), a total station and scaled photographs. The data will be added into a Geographical Information System (GIS) in order to create a 3 dimensional scaled model of the fortress, along with assigning attributes to each point to facilitate future study. Once this is complete all the geophysics data and historic maps can be added to the model.
Dendrochronology and building typology will aid in the phasing of various aspects of the fortress to enhance our understanding of the evolution of the site.
